The Adirondacks - Forever Wild

ID : 787
« back to classes page
Adirondack Park is the largest park in the lower 48 states; however, unlike most national and state parks, there is a synergistic balance between public and private ownership, with a ratio of about 50:50.  The history, culture and people of this region will be presented, including the era of the Great Camps, wilderness guides, logging and the underground railroad.  Perhaps its two most well-known locations are Lake George and Lake Placid - home of the 1932 and 1980 winter Olympics.  The beauty and breadth of Adirondack Park will be reinforced through photographs and clips from the Public Broadcasting Service documentary appropriately titled "The Adirondacks."
