Appreciation of Southeast Asian Textiles

This course will focus on the hand woven and decorated textiles in the island world of Southeast Asia.  An explanation of the techniques that are used in the production of cloth will enhance the understanding and appreciation of them.  Samples and exquisite pieces of textiles made by the women in their respective cultural settings are shown with an emphasis on those from the Philippines.  An historical background of the significance of cloth production will be touched upon.
