Through the Hollywood Lens: The Vietnam War

ID : 663
« back to classes page
Hollywood has made a great number of movies about the Vietnam War, including such films as Platoon, Apocalypse Now, Hamburger Hill, We Were Soldiers Once, Full Metal Jacket, Deer Hunter, Born on the Fourth of July, Good Morning Vietnam, and Forrest Gump.  The instructor, a Vietnam vet, reviews Hollywood’s portrayal of the Vietnam War, American soldiers, and the Zeitgeist of the Vietnam era through an examination of, and commentary on, key film clips from the movies.  Which movie do you think is the “most authentic” Vietnam movie and best captures the spirit of the times?
