ID : 613
« back to classes page
It has been said wild women don't get the Blues. While not entirely true, there certainly have been many "wild women" singing the blues. From Mamie Smith's iconic first recording of "Crazy Blues" in 1920 to Memphis Minnie's classic recordings of the 30's and the female Blues stars of more recent years, women have played a very important role in one of the most American of musical genres. Through recordings and photographs, you will become more familiar with these amazing ladies and their music.
