ID : 542
« back to classes page
The course will address the long arc of Virginia’s history - social, economic, and political - that led to its decision to secede from the Union it helped create. The discussion will trace Virginia’s history from Jamestown to Ft. Sumter against the backdrop of events in America, north and south. Virginia’s reluctant secession decision remains arguably the most fateful in the nation’s history and it still resonates today.
