In this course we will study the Constitutional Convention of 1787 in detail. We will examine the reasons why the Convention was called. We will then take a chronological look at the discussions and debates that occurred during that long summer in Philadelphia. We will explore the framers' thoughts and perspectives as they struggled to create our novel form of government. We will also become familiar with the key participants at the Convention. Course attendees should expect to obtain a better understanding of how and why our Constitution was created.
