« back to classes page
How was COVID-19 discovered? What is the difference between an antibody test and a PCR-based test? Why do we need a vaccine? This course explores the answers to these and other questions about the COVID-19 pandemic through the lens of molecular biology, statistics, and bioinformatics. We will start with how COVID-19 was discovered and what makes it different from the flu, then we will compare and contrast ways in which we test for the virus and what they tell us. Finally, we will look at therapeutics and vaccines, and the role each plays in controlling and preventing future pandemics.
