The Great American Songbook: Inside the Cabaret World

A presentation of the cabaret genre as expressed in the music of artists such as Jerome Kern, Irving Berlin, George and Ira Gershwin, Cole Porter, Rodgers and Hart, Rodgers and Hammerstein, and Harold Arlen. The singers, the songwriters, and the songs will be
explored along with more contemporary artists' work. Videos will be shown highlighting the historical importance of the art and the
theatrical conversation that arises in performance as the vocalists personally interpret the rich musical contribution that is purely American.
