Let’s read it again: the powerful historical novel The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini, a story he tells with breathtaking honesty, about friendship, loyalty, good and evil, betrayal, and redemption.  Set mostly in Afghanistan and the United States, Hosseini describes the changes that happened in Afghanistan from the 1960s to the early 2000s. Although Hosseini considers the story to be the tale of a father and son, most readers focus on the lives of two boys—two best friends—who experience an unimaginable childhood trauma that sets off a series of events that change their lives forever.
