« back to classes page
The Rosewell Ruins in Gloucester County exist today as a relic of America’s fabled past. From the earliest Native Americans to the post-Civil War industrialization, American history was forged at Rosewell. This two-day course will explore the history of Rosewell and discover why Rosewell stands as one of America’s most magnificent mansions. The first session is a lecture. The second session is a private tour of the Rosewell Plantation, a short 40-minute drive from William & Mary. Participants are responsible for their own transportation but carpooling may be discussed on the first day of class. The Rosewell private tour on site at Rosewell will require a $5.00 admission fee to the Rosewell Visitor Center and Ruins.
