« back to classes page
This course will reveal the epic story of the building of what, at the time, was the world’s grandest privately funded construction project,
and the eclectic cast of characters who made it happen. It is a story based on Rockefeller money and of personalities that include,
among others, the redoubtable Nicholas Murray Butler, the genius of John R. Todd, the architectural expertise of Raymond Hood, the
chutzpah of S. L. “Roxy” Rothafel, the PR skills of Ivy Lee, the scheming of David Sarnoff, the controversial art of Diego Rivera, and
Nelson’s ambition. The course includes photos and information not previously available.
