« back to classes page
This course is an exploration of Ancient Egyptian writings from monumental and religious texts to stories, poetry, love songs and wisdom literature. For enhancement of understanding the basics of hieroglyphs will be presented. This is not a course in hieroglyphs but my emphasis will be on what the writings tell us about the history, art, culture, ethics, religion and most of all about the hopes, fears, and concerns of these people about family, social status, death etc. What was it like to live in this ancient land several millennia ago?
