ID : 1090
« back to classes page
Flannery O’Connor combined her Southern upbringing, devout Catholicism, biting wit, and observational skills to produce comic
Southern Gothic fiction. When asked why she wrote, she replied “I come from a family where the only emotion respectable to show is irritation. In some this tendency produces hives, in others literature, in me both.” Her best works are short stories, where she creates
remarkable characters to illustrate the Grace she believes possible in our lives. In order we will discuss “Good Country People," “A
Good Man is Hard to Find,” “Greenleaf,” and “Parker’s Back.”
